Gua Sha Will Give You An Instant Facelift and the Best Skin You've Ever Had!
You probably wouldn't believe us if we told you that you could get clearer, younger, and healthier skin without using a single product. But we're here to tell you that it's possible, and in many cases, this ancient Chinese healing technique is likely to be more effective than many of your beauty products.
Today's topic is Gua Sha, a practice that entails moving a blunt, smooth instrument (a Gua Sha) along specific energy lines to remove toxins from your lymphatic system. Don't pass judgement just yet; hear us out because the skin benefits are too good to pass up.
Gua Sha Benefits:Gua sha, when used consistently, helps to improve the function of the skin, which aids in the treatment of many skin conditions, including deep lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, rosacea, acne, acne scars, pigmentation, dark circles, and puffiness. It retrains the facial muscles, relaxing, strengthening, lifting, and toning them. And, to be honest, if we hadn't seen the results for ourselves, we'd say it's too good to be true.
Clients are hooked on this facial! The results are visible, and you appear to have had a mini-facelift! The beauty of this therapy is that you can learn and practise it on yourself at home, resulting in significant changes to your skin. That's quite potent! "
What Exactly is Gua Sha?
Gua Sha has been used as a healing technique for thousands of years. Gua Sha is a deeply relaxing therapy in which gentle strokes are used to massage, manipulate, and stimulate specific energy lines and points along the face. This promotes healthy lymph flow by releasing toxins that have become lodged. It also helps to iron out the fascia [connective tissue] that has been affected by tension, resulting in a lovely lift in the face.
Gua Sha is performed with the help of a stone known as a Gua Sha, which comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, and materials – more on that later.
How Does Gua Sha Work?
Gua Sha essentially improves the efficiency of our skin by "releasing and clearing toxic stagnant lymph and removing blockages and adhesions from the shoulders, neck, and face." We create flow by making room for it. When there are blockages (tension knots) and stagnation, there is no space for movement or flow, and the skin cannot function properly.
How to Perform Gua Sha on Your Face:
Gua Sha requires two things: a Gua Sha tool and the proper technique.
Aside from knowing where to move your Gua Sha around your face and neck, there are a few other things you should know before performing Gua Sha at home. Danna shared her best advice with us:
Step 1: Hydrate: Drink plenty of water before and after to help rid the body of toxins.
Step 2: Prepare your skin: After cleansing, apply a product with a slip, such as a facial oil or serum.
Step 3: Begin with the neck: Always begin with the neck open. To treat the face, the tension in the neck must be released. It also raises the energy level in the face.
Step 4. Move to your face: After you've finished with your neck, move on to your face, starting at the jaw and working your way outward to move congestion away from your face's centre and down towards your jaw. Repeat with your under-eyes, eyelids, and forehead as you work your way up the face. We like to start with one side so that we can see the visible lift.
Rules for Doing Gua Sha
Rule 1: Massage your skin at a 15-degree angle (almost flat) with your Gua Sha; this allows the stone to come into contact with the skin and benefit from its healing and rejuvenating properties.
Rule 2: Apply firm pressure to certain areas, such as the neck and jaw, while remaining light and gentle on the rest. This will produce the best results.
Rule 3: Always support your skin with the opposite hand and always go all the way to the hairline.
